I’ve done some “street” photography in the past, my way! I wasn’t expecting to do more as soon as yesterday but following watching a YouTube clip I decided now was the time to do just that.
Stockport had its fair share of mills that made various things in bygone days, including hats. The local council, thankfully, decided that the ones near the town centre should have a new lease of life. So a project was born to blend new builds with renovations of the old mills.
I have to say it certainly looks the part, and whilst it’s not fully completed yet, there’s enough open and complete to lead me to believe that this area of Stockport town centre has a bright future.
I chose to walk the mile or so, get my steps in but also take my Fuji Xpro3 with me to document what I saw.
Here is a selection of images from the walk around, which took in the newly opened Weir Mill.

What adds to the “vibe” of this area is that quite a lot of the buildings are next to and in some cases under the railway viaduct. The viaduct dominates the sky line of the town centre but I’ve not been able to capture a decent composition. I’m not saying these even try to capture the viaduct, they are just complementary to the old and new vibe of this part of the town centre.
I hope you like. Let me know in the comments.
