It’s been mighty busy, work wise, this last few weeks, and the lead up to retirement is proving harder than I thought. The thing to cling onto is that I will have all time I need to get out and take photographs once the 24th April 2025 arrives. Liberation Day, my liberation from work. I’ve loved working from home but its sure is harder when all you see each day is a bloody computer screen and no real folk just images on Teams, or Zoom or whatever. Dont feel sorry for me, I’ve enjoyed my working career and will enjoy my retirement.
These images are from a new location that I visited last weekend, t sits above Edenfield in Rossendale, Lancashire. Off I went from the centre of the village up past the Cricket pitch and off up the cement road to see what I could find. These images are the results of that walk.

Dearden Moor sits next to Scout Moor where the wind turbines are located. I’ve taken images a number of times of the turbines, and my eye was caught by this scene. I love a gate, although this is a little nondescript, the track leading off towards the turbines just added something that I liked.

this image was taken looking back down the cement track towards Edenfield and you can see the Peel Tower on Holcombe Moor in the distance. Not the worlds greatest image but it lends itself to black and white.

As I reached what I thought was the top of the hill I could see this scene in the distance, this isn’t the top of course. I love a derelict building and this certainly fits that bill. I have absolutely no idea what this was in its past life, maybe some research required. You’ll see from the last image that it may well have a future.

This image was taken on my way back down after shooting the derelict building. What caught my eye was the almost uniform way that the sections of wall that are still standing take your eye off into the distance. I love dry stone walls and we are lucky in the Uk that we have loads of them. In all states of disrepair. Strange how the owners of the land choose to put up wire fences rather than repair the walls themselves. Maybe this is all about the economics of the situation, a wire fence will be cheaper in my mind. Is this a metaphor for the state of the world we live in!!

wasn’t going to include this image, but on reflection I think it does add something to the collection. I think its shows that there well could be a future for this currently derelict building. Well assuming the skip is there as workmen start to take down the loose bits in readiness for the next chapter in the life if this building. Who knows.
All these images where taken hand held with my Leica Q3.
