The Trees

I’ve taken lots of pictures of trees over the years and not always with intentionality. They catch my eye and I take an image. Some better than others, but when taking these images I’m always out and about in nature which is a good thing.

Regular readers will know that I’m a member of the OneLandscape group and we undertake monthly challenges. December 2025 is all about trees, to be precise, a tree portrait.

To say I’ve embraced this challenge would be an understatement, I’ve taken quite a lot of images of single trees. This week I decided to take images of two trees. Firstly, Dovestones reservoir and, Secondly, The Witches Hat, on Holcombe Moor. Here are a selection of the images I took of both trees.

All these images were taken with my Fujifilm X-T5 with Sigma lenses 10 to 18 or 18 to 50, both f2.8. All mounted on my 3 legged thing Corey tripod with K&F CPL filters.

Bonus Tree

As I was walking back to my car from the Witches Hat Tree, I spotted the tree in the image below. I liked the look of this and took this image handheld with my Fujifilm X-Pro3.
