I’ve had my eye on this location and unusual monument for a while now and haven’t had the chance to visit, until today. We decided the bank holiday was not best spent at the seaside, so an alternative was sought. The images you see on google peaked my interest, so off we set to find this unusual piece of art deep in the landscape…..well nearly. You can drive very near to the tree, and there is a purpose built car park. In fact there is what looks like a newish road leading to it.
All these images were taken on my Song Alpha 7 IV, with the 24 to 70 G Master Mark II, this is a fabulous combination and i’m thrilled with the results i’ve had so far.
There are man made paths that lead to this sculpture, and the leading lines of the path set up this image nicely. The Singing Ringing Tree – This image gives you a sense of scale of the sculpture and also the place in the landscape that it is set. I agree that some moody clouds do add to the drama of this image. The concept of this is really clever, the pipes all face 360 degrees, and the wind rattles through effectively making the sculpture ”sing”. It was a little windy when we were there but unless we got very close to it we couldn’t hear it.It certainly looks otherworldly. One thing that could be better is the base that the sculpture sits on. To be honest it looks a little scruffy for such a prestigious sculpture. I have to say that this is a cracking sculpture to visit. A little research tells me that there are 3 others in the set, that are dotted around the moors in East Lancashire. We will definitely be visiting all of these.
