The Ogwen Valley

I have been to North Wales umteen times over the years, mainly as a kid. Trouble is i never really appreciated the beauty and sheer brilliance of Snowdonia, and to be fair the whole of North Wales. The stupidity of youth I guess.

Once lockdown was fully over it has always been my ambition to go back to Snowdonia, and explore and more importantly take some images of both the well known places as well as the not so well known places. We are spoiled rotten these days, research is so much easier to do, and for me Youtube and OS Maps are my best friend. This weekend i had a free day and decided to take a quick trip into the Ogwen Valley.

I set off at 6.30 am, and was sat in the Ogwen Valley visitors centre car park at 8.15am. My plan was to investigate Llyn Idwal first followed by a walk onto the foothills of Pen-yr-Ole-Wen, to take some images of Tryfan. Here is a short photo essay of yesterdays adventure.

I had a great 3 hours exploring Llyn Idwal. I walked the circular route and at one point was quite close to the base of the Idwal Slabs, there were climbers, and hats off to them it was bloody high!!

I decided to head back to the visitors centre for breakfast, and just in time. The heavens opened. This wasnt forecast the night before but i guess things change. The rain was set fair for a good few hours, so i decided that my walk around llyn Idwal was a good enough introduction back into Snowdonia. I will be back here soon.
