If you have read my last blog post you will know that Tracey and I had a long weekend staying at Robin Hoods Bay, the weekend before the last one. We agreed that we should explore and do some walking and the OS Map told us that The Cleveland Way as a great walk in this area. The images here are from the walk to Whitby on the Saturday as well as the walk to Boggle Hole on the Sunday. both these walks are on The Cleveland Way.

I didn’t realise that there was lighthouse along this path, from looking at the OS map, but my hopes did get up when we approached what you can see in this first image. It looks like a lighthouse but sadly it is no longer functioning as a lighthouse. In fact this is a place that you can book into to stay over. I think this is a wonderful idea, why let the place go to wrack and ruin after its use as a lighthouse has expired.I like this image, the path is a strong leading line and the colour in the flowers (if thats what they are) just adds to the depth of the image. It’s a shame there isn’t a lot going on in the sky….hey ho.

Mother Nature has a habit of presenting you with really interesting things, that have arisen just through the day to day weather. There are lots of ups and downs on this walk but there are also lots of flat sections that run along side farmers fields. As you can see from this image there are also some interesting things right on the path. Clearly the tree has grown to such an extent that it sways in the wind, but over time the strong sea winds have bent the tree to the shape you see. As Tracey walked in front of me, it almost felt like she was walking through a tunnel. Not quite but you get the idea. having Tracey walking in this image gives it a sense of where and why, but I really do like this image.

This image was taken on Sunday as we walked south on The Cleveland Way towards Ravenscar. This is the cove at Boggle Hole, and at low tide you can walk out of the cove and onto the beaches at both sides, hunting for Jet (if you know, you know). The tide was on its way in in this image so we couldn’t go too far. Tracey is doing her best to find some Jet, but alas she didn’t find any. From here we headed back to Robin Hoods Bay, and decided to take the car to Ravenscar, it was a good job we didn’t walk as there isn’t a lot there and certainly public transport is in short supply, if we decided we couldn’t walk back.
All these images are taken hand held withy Sony Alpha 7 iv with the 24 to 70mm f2.8 GM lens.
