Southport by the sea – Well almost!

We wanted to have a walk by the seaside today and decided that we hadn’t been to Southport for a while so off we went.

As I’m sure you know the sea isn’t very near the shore at Southport and when walking along the promenade it doesn’t feel like other seaside resorts. It’s neither near the sea or the hotels and guest houses.

It’s very boggy and marshy on the shoreline and whilst the sea must come in to some degree it doesn’t feel like it blasts the sea walls like at other coastal resorts.

There is a pier, although it looked closed today, but the beach isn’t the best. Anyway walk we did and Charlie enjoyed run up and down on the narrow sandy path just off the walkway on the seafront.

Most seaside resorts you are falling over yourself with the number of cafes etc but here there were none. Who knew KFC stopped selling hot drinks!! We waited until we got home.

These images are all taken with my Fuji XPro3, with a 16mm (24mm equivalent) f2.8 lens. They are all handheld and processed in Lightroom with Classic Negative film simulation as the basis for the edit.

I hope you like the images and it would be good to get some comments about the images or your experiences at Southport .

  1. My favorite photos are the last three, with the last one as my number 1.. I have to admit that I’ve seen more scenic/inviting places 😋

Small comment about the photos, they are a bit too dark for me to see some of the details.
