Now I’ll excuse you for thinking I’ve gone all management speak on you with a tile like this one. Don’t worry, im not getting all management speak on you, I’ll leave that for the day job. It’s not often I get asked to try to take some images that are themed, but this last weekend I was. Tracey asked me if I could help get some images that could be used to support the Economic Development Strategy that she is working on. So the first part of the assignment was to get some wider scene setting images. What follows are the first 3 images in the set, they are by no means perfect but I do like them and I think they do set the scene well.

The big idea is to try to capitalise on the unique place that Bury is. Made up of a number of separate towns, but all part of the wider area of Bury that is the council catchment area. On the doorstep of Manchester city centre, but with its own unique setting. You are not very far from the hills wherever you are in the wider Bury area. You can see in the distance the skyline of Manchester, but in the force and mid ground there is lots to see and do.

We parked up in Holcombe Village and headed along the roads towards the paths that take you up onto Holcombe moor and the Peel Tower. There are lots of these sorts of scenes on the paths as we walked and I was fascinated to try to capture some part of the fence whilst still being able to see the skyline of Manchester. Oh by the way it had snowed the previous day but, thankfully it was melting due to the gorgeous sunshine.

As we got nearer to the Peel Tower, we noticed that people were at the top of the tower, and we speculated that the tower may be open. Once we got nearer we knew why. There was a charity abseil going on, with folk risking life and limb (only joking) in what I’m sure is a great and worthy cause. Having been around here once or twice before I had an image in my head. So off we headed towards one of the many fences and gates. The vision I had in my head is realised in the image above. The open gates, the path leading to the tower, all separated and in view. Immediately beside the tower is the famous Manchester skyline. I think this is a definite contender, maybe a sunset. shot, we will have to see but nonetheless I really like this and I think it definitely fits the brief.
These three images where taken with my Sony Alpha 7IV, with my 24 to 70 f2.8 G Master lens.

I guess that Tracy was very satisfied with the photos. I like the color tone of the photos and I think that they meet the requirements well. If I had been the one who have asked for the photos, I had been quite happy. Well done.
Thanks Jan Erik. Tracey was very pleased with these images but there’s more to come!!
Thanks again.
