This is a bit of a click bait heading in that it implies I didn’t have any time to get out with my camera this past weekend. Of course I did, but this was whilst I was out and about with Charlie. Those of you who know me will know I walk Charlie a lot and I have taken some amazing photographs whilst out. Usually Tracey is with us but not always. Anyway this weekend there was a few things going on and I didn’t really have anytime to plan what or where to go. So I guess this post should be named what too do when you have no time to plan your photography!
It really is very straight forward, do out with your camera, walk to places and you will usually find something. This weekend is no different, I packed my camera and Charlie into the car and off we went to Edenfield, parked up and followed the public footpath signs from the village. he OS map showed that there was paths that would form a circulate route back, so off we went.

It’s strange how the weather can be different a few miles away, in Stockport it was bright sunshine, but in Edenfield it was moody and murky. I’m not complaining as this murk adds to the sky and along with the tree and the road make decent enough image. Just behind the hedge in the foreground is the M66 motorway. Its great what a good camera angle can hide.

What I didn’t spot on the OS Map was the railway line that is used by The East Lancs Railway. I followed long it for a fair way, but on the other side of a stone wall. Eventually I came across the station Irwell Vale, and I took this image having taken great care to check the timetable and to tether Charlie to a post. The coast as clear to take an image. I quite like the leading lines and the quaint station and platform.

Not far above the Irwell vale station I came across this styal, and after struggling to get Charlie over it, I thought it might make a decent image, which I think it does. I like how the house in the distance sits in the middle of the styal.

I decided to follow the same approach on Monday but this time it was just me, as Charlie was gadding about with his pals having gone out with the dog walker. So I decided to walk around Ramsbottom village, I think I will have to go back and revisit this place with the camera as the only decent image I got was of the church, granted it is bathed in some lovely mid morning light.

The final image of the day was a complete fluke, I went to M&S in Rawtenstall to pick up a few bits, and as I drove down towards the store, this scene caught my eye. Some nice light on a signal box with a mill chimney in the background. maybe I’m getting a taste for trains etc. Maybe not.
Not the best set of images but it goes to show that you can get a decent image or two even if you havent planned or indeed had the motivation to go out with your camera.
