New Images from an Old Location

Last week I only had one chance to get out and about, so I decided to revisit a location five been to on several occasions. That location was Werneth Low, which sits above Hyde in Greater Manchester. It’s a popular spot and even the fact that it was a Monday there were plenty of folk out walking their dogs. I had Charlie with me given that he and Tracey were staying with me for a couple of weeks, I decided his walk of the day would be with me on Werneth Low.

The dominant landmark on Werneth Low is Hyde Cenotaph. I have taken lots of images of the Cenotaph and so I was looking for something a little different on this trip. I think I did n this trip, take a look and let me know what you think.

All images taken handheld with my Leica Q3.

There two things that caught my eye when I stood looking at this scene (1) the sky, and (2) the juxtaposition of the cenotaph and the phone masts in the distance. In reality the masts are much much bigger than the Cenotaph.

Black and White is an experiment that I’m really enjoying and you will notice across all my blogs and social media postings there are quite a few Black and White images. Whilst this was taken in colour a few edits in Lightroom gave me a very different look to the scene.

In a search for alternative view of the Cenotaph I walked around the fields surrounding and finally settled on this location. I love a good frame in frame, and I quite like this if not the best photograph I’ve ever taken.

Once I had finished shooting the Cenotaph the walk back to the car took me along this path, and I was struck by the light on the scene. The path running up and away to the right takes the eye towards the Tv mast in the distance, and eventually to the sky, which the great cloud formations adding to the image.
