We still have another week before we have to submit our image for the panorama challenge in the OneLandscape group. I decided last week that a big “vista” is what works best for a panorama. Although I’m sure that there are other sorts of locations that would work. In the past I’ve been to Tegs Nose Country Park near Macclesfield and have taken various images. So when thinking about a big vista this location sprung to mind.
So yesterday I thought the rainy and misty weather might help add to make a decent panorama image, so off I went to Tegs Nose Country Park, and parked in the visitors centre. This is the best place to park when wanting to get the big vista image, as parking down near the reservoirs means a hike up the hill. Which, in the wind and rain I didn’t want to do. I took my Fuji X-T5 with my sigma zoom lenses along with my Fuji Xpro1.
There are various ways to get a pano image, one is to take a few images in a line across the scene, and then stitch them together in Lightroom. The simpler method is to use a wide angle lens and then crop to the appropriate 12 by 5 aspect ratio. All these images are shot with a wide angle lens and cropped to 12 by 5.

There are various view points looking down onto the reservoirs and the village of Sutton, as these images where all taken from the second one you come across following the path from the visitors centre once you get up the stairs. I really like the mist hanging over the forest in the background in this image.

This image was shot about 20 yards to the right of the previous image but enables the inclusion of the lower reservoir. This does include some foreground interest in the rocks etc on the left of the image but I’m nt sure that this doesn’t make the image a little lacking in visual balance.

This image is not a 12 by 5 crop but I like the composition even if the left hand side of the reservoir is slightly missing. This was shot at 28mm (42mm Full Frame equivalent) on the Sigma 18 to 50 f2.8 lens.

This image was shot on the Fuji Xpro1 at 23 mm (35mm Full Frame Equivalent). I was walking around the viewpoint looking for any alternative compositions and decided to take this. It does include more foreground, which is again on the left. This is a hand held image cropped to 12 by 5 aspect ratio.

This image was shot on Fuji Xpro1 at 23mm (35mm Full Frame equivalent). This is a little to the right of the last image but lacks any real subject as the reservoirs are relatively small in the frame. This again is a hand held image cropped to 12 by 5.
I will decide on what image to submit for the challenge when I’ve had a chance to review these and the images I shot on Holcombe Moor last week
