Llandudno July 2023

This week end we had a long weekend break in Llandudno with Tracey’s parents. Whilst strictly this wasn’t a trip that I would have expected to spend hours over capturing images I did manage to capture a number of handheld shots whilst we were out and about. The images that follow are from Llandudno itself along with Betts-y-Coed, Llamberis and Conwy. These are all handheld images taken with my Sony Alpha7IV, and my 24 to 70 f2.8 GM II lens.

For anyone that has been to Llandudno you will recognise the beach that runs the length of the promenade. The tide was out when I took this image but the sea was covering the stones that are all over this beach. I like the way the light hits the wet stones and that helps lead your eye through the image as the beach sweeps through the rest of the image, with the far end of Llandudno in the distance.

Whilst this small cascade of water is not on the scale of the ones that can be found in Swallow Falls, nonetheless I still like the way this image flows. It’s very easy to capture this sort of image with a long exposure and freezing the water, but you do lose the definition of the water as it flows. This is not a portfolio image by any stretch but I do like it.

I’ve visited LLanberis on numerous occasions and this impressive structure caught my eye each time. This is remembering all the old kings of Wales and is an imposing structure on the shores of Lyn Padarn. I literally pulled up on the road and jumped out and took this image, so maybe not the perfect composition but I really do like this.

On the morning we came home, we agreed that we would have a little mooch around Conwy. Mainly to see the smallest house in Wales. Whilst the others looked at the smallest house, I hopped over the wall and came down to the harbour front to check out what was in the bay. I liked the layout of the boats here and snapped this image.
