iPhone 15 Pro Max Testing

Someone clever once said the best camera to take an image is the camera you have in your hand at the time you need to take an image. Whilst I do try to have one of my two main cameras with me, it is always the case that I will have my smartphone with me at all times wherever I go. I’ve had iPhones right the way back to iPhone 3, and whilst I haven’t had everyone in between I do try to upgrade regularly.

I was very excited to take delivery of the iPhone 15 Pro Max the beginning of last week, and I spent a little while setting it up and making sure everything was transferred and working as I expected. That took me to last weekend where I decided test out the camera system of the IPhone 15 Pro Max. There are 3 actual lenses but those allow a wide range of focal lengths and zoom options. I decided it would be what I’d use all last weekend when out and about taking images. The images that follow are a few that I took last weekend with the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

This image was taken on the way down from having a “pit stop’ at Buckhurst Lodgeside. As I walked along I was passed by a walker going very quickly down the hill. He informed we it was going to rain. I have to say I was sceptical as it had been a lovely morning. The gate and field always catch my eye, and I’ve taken a few actual camera images, but this one is the best one so far. Not just the rainbow in the distance but also the composition, the gate and the field etc. This is an Apple Pro Raw image and allows full control once added to Lightroom.

Monday didn’t turn out quite like I’d expected it to, both from a work perspective or also from a personal one. Anyway, shit happens and we have to deal with it, but it meant that I was in Bury Monday evening. We decided we would eat out and headed off to the Duckworth Arms. Once I’d parked the car we set off towards the main entrance of the pub. We both looked up and both had the same reaction. Out came the phones and images of the lovely sunset were taken. This images was taken using the 5 times zoom on the iPhone 15 Pro Max with a crop in Lightroom. The files are lots of megapixels, so cropping doesn’t unduly affect the resolution of the image. I love how the Peel Tower is silhouetted against the lovely orange sky behind it.

I have to say that I’m impressed, so far, with the camera system on the iPhone 15 Pro Max. I was impressed with the cameras on the previous versions I owned but they are getting better and better.

Fay Godwin Challenge

This months challenge on the OneLandscape coaching group is to make an image in the style of fay Godwin. I must admit I had no idea who Fay was and what her body of work looked like, or what style she had. The main take home messages from my early research was that most of her work was black and white, was taken on film and were relatively “normal’ subjects.

This image was also taken on iPhone 15 Pro Max and is also on the walk to Buckhurst Lodgeside. I like the simplicity of this, the story is all about energy supply, with the power lines leading the eye through the image from pylon to pylon, with the wind turbine (power of the future) in the background. This is work in progress but I do like it.
