Now that the better weather is approaching and I’m not working quite as much as i have been, I’ll be out and about more. This will be a mixture of local and slightly further afield. This Friday just gone i decided that it was time to go back to The Peak District, after all it has been a fair while. I saw on Instagram some pictures of the train station at Edale and comments about it being an easy commute from Manchester. Some quick research and i realised i can get a direct train from Stockport to Edale. This is actually the Sheffield train, and it only stops at Hazel Grove and Chinley, and then it’s Edale, 35 mins maximum. So off i went yesterday.
These images are all taken with my Fuji XT-5 with the Sigma 18 to 50mm f2.8 lens. I’m really loving the lightweight nature of this setup and the image quality from the 40 megapixel sensor in the XT-5 is marvellous. This whole kit fits into a Peak Design sling bag, and weights not very much at all. This is great for walking around in search of locations to shoot. This wont replace my Sony Alpha 7IV, which i will use to get the ultimate version of the locations i find that i decide are worth investing time and effort in.
Looking at OS maps, Edale train station is handily placed to get onto various routes up onto Kinder Scout, it’s even on the Pennine Way, might even be the start of the Pennine Way. I decided that i would follow the path that winds its way up into Grindsbrook Clough. The map suggested several small waterfalls, but i knew there would be some good scenery, if nothing else. I have invested in a map book by a lady called Sarah Lister that has lots of different walks onto and around Kinder Scout but i wont do any of these on my own, its a two man game at the very least.
All these images are hand held, and edited in Lightroom from Fuji Astia Soft v2 film simulation.

I have to say i was surprised how easy the journey was, as i really was expecting there to be some hassle. Northern Rail haven’t got the best record when it comes to services running on time, but i can honestly say that I will use this service again. I might even go as far as Grindleford and explore that area on foot. A most enjoyable little trip out.
