Developing Storytelling Through Images

I’ve started to develop my photography to try to tell a visual story within each image. This blog posts 3 images that I feel convey a story, along with being bloody good photographs in their own right. This will be a big feature in my photography going forward, in addition and as part of my landscapes.

Swimming Pool – Teresa’s Sunset Hotel, San Stefanos< Corfu. Clearly this image is about the reflections and the sunset. The tones in this image are really nice. You wonder who will relax on those beds next, what would it be like to swim in the clear blue pool waters. I did wonder what drink I was having at the time, but thats another story.
Beach Art – San Stefanos Beach, Corfu. The main characters in this story are the man made sculptures. Who made them, how long have they been there, how do they stay upright in the face of the onrushing sea. The moody sky and white waves add to the ascetic of this image. I delibertately used a shallow depth of field to highlight the first sculpture, but not so much as to blur out the second one.
The Church on the hill above Ereicousa Port. Who goes to this little church, how often does it get used. Who owns the yacht in the bay, why are they anchored in this bay? The positioning of both elements in this image are really complimentary, and both add questions when looking at this image.
