Colour or Black and White

The weather recently has been wet and flat. Over the weekend it was dry if a little cold. Yesterday morning the forecast was for mist and fog. I was in Edenfield in the afternoon so decided to continue my obsession with wind turbines.

I had taken some phone images on my phone on Sunday at Ashworth Reservoir as we walked Charlie. One in particular I was impressed with and I’ll include this as the first image below.

I took 45 images as I walked around a misty and foggy Ashworth Reservoir, both of the wind turbines and also the various water related access points.

Once I got the images into Lightroom I struggled a little with editing and eventually decide to try a colour versus black and white comparison. I posted some comparison images on OneLandscspe and one of the guys offered some advice. Thanks Steve.

This image was taken on my iPhone17ProMax.

These images are all shot on my Fuji X-T5, with the 10 to 18mm f2.8 Sigma lens. These are all edited in Lightroom with the Classic Negative film simulation, with a couple of tweaks. The Black and White images are edited with the stock black and white profile within Lightroom.

So here is a colour versus black and white image, which do you prefer?

I think colour for landscapes and B&W suits portraits… but not always. I used to be indecisive, but now I’m not so sure 🤔😆

I think for Landscapes the weather conditions makes a big difference, but as you say I was indecisive when I was editing.
