Arnside Walk June 2025

My friend Steve has been retired for quite a while now and regularly has asked me to come out on a walk with him, with or without others walkers. This last Wednesday we finally managed the first post retirement walk together.

We agreed we wouldn’t do anything to strenuous, but in the end we did the best part of 8 miles and whilst not a huge climb, Arnside Knott was scaled. These are the images I took on the walk. We started in Sporth, where I parked my car, and did a circular route back to the car. Like most small seaside spots car parking is at a premium.

All these images are taken with my Leica Q3, hand held.

I love a gate, especially a quirky one, and this is definitely quirky. This is on the way down from the official viewing point on Arnside Knott.

Isn’t Mother Nature wonderful, trees bending to fit the conditions they find themselves in. This is literally just off the side of the viewing point. There was a couple of people eating lunch beneath this tree but the magic of Lightroom, means they are not.

Well it is Friday. Fingerpost Friday. Views over towards the Barrow peninsular in the distance.

A bench with a view out over the estuary, with the viaduct in the distance, I think thats what it is.

The viaduct resplendent with a train in the middle.

Apparently this used to be the site of the old Preston to barrow railway line, that ran through Arnside. Now its a lovely path, which was lit up with some gorgeous sunshine.

This is looking top the estuary away from Arnside at Sports, which is where I parked the car. A lovely spot.
