This last week i have been having a great time looking after Charlie! Tracey was away in Croatia with her friends and i agreed to dog sit. I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a week that’s very different than my usual weeks, yes i worked and Charlie was at day care, but other than that we spent the whole week together. Most dogs needs lots of walks and Charlie is no different, so this weekend i decided we would get out and about for walks but also for photography.
The Atom
You’ll know that i have taken images of 2 of the 4 panopticon sculptures that can be found in the hills around East Lancashire. The Singing Ringing Tree and The Haslingdon Halo you will remember have featured in recent blogs, so a little more research told me that the third of the series was in the hills above Colne, near Burnley. So Friday morning Charlie and I set off in search of The Atom. These images are a selection of the shots i took on what was a flat weather day. Despite the flay light this was useful research for when the light will be better.

The Atom is a cement like structure, that’s full of large holes, very interesting.

The Atom is situated in Wycoller Country Park, and there are some lovely walks that will definitely be explored in future visits.

Spooky Eyes.

Interesting wall structures up here, not seen these type before.

Wild flowers everywhere.

Frame within frame.
Knowl Hill
It was a lovely and hot day on Saturday, which means that the idle of the day was not the right time to take Charlie out. So about 8am, we set off to go and walk up towards Knowl Hill, and more specifically the wind Turbines. I’ve been up in this location before but i wanted t look to see if there are any alternative compositions that i could find for these huge structures.

The Grand Vista

Access via the access road!

The Inter-change.

A puddle reflection, well almost.

I love a styal.
Aurora, What Aurora! A sunset.
I think i must be the only photographer in the whole of the UK who didn’t see or even photograph the Aurora. To be honest i was asleep, and ‘didn’t’ realise that it would be visible from home! So Saturday night I decided id be more alert and keep my eyes peeled for any signs of the Aurora for a second night running. To help i downloaded an app that would alert me of any impending sightings. To no avail but at least I tried.
The evening was really nice so i decided to walk up to Nangreaves and see if i could get any sunset images of The Peel Tower on Holcomb Hill. Admitted across the valley but images nonetheless. Me and Charlie spend a lovely hour walking and waiting to see what might develop in the sky, these are the results.

The Peel Tower is silhouette.

The sign says there’s a path, but where does it go?
These are not the best images I’ve ever taken but i do like these two images. A decent sky always adds to an image.
All these images are taken on my newly traded Fuji XT-5, which I’m loving using and experimenting with the Fuji film simulations. All images are hand held.
