12 Significant Images – My Motivation Gets a boost

The keen readers,. and I guess regular watchers of my website, will know I have a 12 month project currently as work in progress. This is 12 significant images, from 12 different locations visited 4 times each and coming together as 12 images one from each location for each month of the year. Given the lockdown restrictions I didn’t start my project until April 2021, so therefore it ends on March 2022.

I have all 12 locations and have been and taken photographs at each location, some more than others. You can see a sub set of these images HERE. I’m undertaking this project along with other photographers from around the world and led by Chris Sale, who you will have heard about from my previous blog posts. Chris and at least 5 other members of the group have now completed their 12 months and have selected and created content based on those 12 images.

Each month Chris hosts a webinar were he talks about his progress and showcases some of the images that group members have submitted to him, along with a discussion about where everyone is up to and any problems or issues members may be having. At this months meeting Chris took the group through his final 12 images as well as showcasing the website that he has created. Lets just say this spared me on to get out and take some more images of my locations, and make some more progress towards completing my project.

Location 11 – Image 2 – Ashopton Viaduct Ladywell Reservoir
Location 10 – Image 2 – Curber Edge (sticky Up Rock – I dont know its name)
Location 8 – Image 2 – Lower Ormerods – Clough Head Haslingden

I’m not making excuses but life is busy, with both work and other parts of my personal life being very busy, has meant less time for photography. I was determined that this weekend just gone I would get out and take some more images from a sub set of my locations. The images in this post are the results of this weekends photography and I now feel a renewed sense of purpose to complete the project.

Once completed I will be creating a zine that I will get printed and available for sale, as well as creating an Adobe Spark site that will show off the 12 images I select. This will be linked to the main 12 Significant Photos website that Chris Sale has created to show off the work of the group.

There is still plenty of photography to be done but I still have around 10 weeks to get more images from the locations. I’m not 100% convinced that I will get 4 images from each location, but I will have at least 2 from each. I might even manage to get 3 from some of them.

  1. Great Blog Stephen and congratulations on nearing the end of your 12 Significant Photographs Project. It has been wonderful seeing your images and getting to know you on a personal/professional level. Cheers, Keith

    1. Thanks Keith. It really has been great to get to know you to, I’ve enjoyed the camaraderie as much as the photography. Thanks for the kind words.
